I had an incredible time at my first ever Scout jamboree. I was lucky to be a part of the stage crew and having not known any of the team beforehand, I've come away with many new friends.
Throughout the week I was helping bands load in and out of the main stage and during performances I was the FOH camera operator, which is something I've never done before. I also helped setup and pack down the second stage before and after the event. We also ended up as a backup security team, helping to find people or redirecting learner drivers.
There was a great variety of entertainment from many bands throughout the week but it all came to a close with an attempt at the world record for most people renewing their promise at the same time, a set from Toploader in the moonlight and a 15 minute laser show which required air traffic from Heathrow to be redirected.
The lack of salad at the beginning of the week has to be mentioned, especially after the hike from the train station, along with the small portion sizes which got better as the week went on. We made up for it with ice cream, slushies and beer while sitting in the shade so I can't really complain!
A great time was had by all and I'm looking forward to hopefully doing another event with this amazing group of people.
